Requirements
A driving license is a valid document that indicates that a driver has satisfied the legal requirements for driving. The requirements vary from one country to another but they all involve passing a driving test and not having any traffic violations on record. The tests are generally divided into practice and theory however there are a few exceptions to this rule. The first step to obtaining the license is to take a driving course, and pass the theory test. A driver must be physically fit to drive. Some countries require proof, such as a medical examination.
The next step is to get the Category C license, or a Car Driver's License. This allows you to drive trucks, passenger vehicles and trailers with a maximum weight of 7.5 tonnes. If you already have an Cat C licence, you can upgrade to a Cat C + E licence, which allows you to drive articulated heavy goods vehicles with a maximum weight of 44 tonnes.
You must be at least 21 years old to get a Category C license. This is the minimum age requirement. However, you might be eligible to obtain one earlier if you have already completed or are currently undergoing the training required for the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence. You must also hold a full driving licence to qualify for the category C+E license.
The C+E category is the highest available hgv licence. It combines the categories C and E and is the most comprehensive hgv licence you can get. You must hold a Category C licence in order to qualify for the C+E licence and you should also be able to pass an exam for medical clearance and a practical driving test.
In addition to passing the practical and theory driving tests You must also pass a medical checkup and eye exam. Medical examiners will test for diseases such as heart disease and diabetes and also for other conditions. You must be in good physical and mental health to drive a car and have any history of addiction. If you have a mental illness or mental illness, the DVLA will scrutinize your application on a case-by-case basis.

Training
If you're interested in becoming a truck driver and earn more money, the best method is to be trained for the job. Numerous companies provide complete driver training courses. They offer instruction on how to drive rigid and articulated heavy goods vehicles up to 32 tonnes. The training is comprised of classroom instruction and on-road driving tests. The driving test typically lasts around 1.5 hours and requires you to follow an established route. The examiner will provide you with any directions or diverted routes.
After completing the training, a person will receive a learner's licence (LL) that lasts for six months. The LL permits people to drive on public roads as long they have a licensed driver accompanying them. Driving without a qualified instructor is considered a crime.
When the training is completed at the end of the course, the student will be awarded the certificate from an approved driving school. This certificate should be presented to the Vehicle Inspection Officer when applying for a driver's licence. The VIO will then conduct a driving test to determine if the applicant is fit to drive a category C+E lorry.
The VIO will issue a permanent license after the driving test has been completed successfully. The license will include details about the driver, like his name, father's name as well as the date of birth, address, vehicle types, emergency contact information blood group fingerprint impression and photo. The driver must undergo a medical exam before the license is issued.
The license is valid every three years. It is usually supplemented with the document known as a "vremennoe razreshenie". This document proves that a driver has passed a medical examination to ensure he's fit to drive. A driver must also attend first aid training in order to be ready for possible accidents on the road. Depending on where you live the driver might need to get an additional endorsement in order to drive passenger vehicles. These additional endorsements are referred to as commercial drivers' licences (CDL). They are typically required for drivers who want to transport dangerous materials.
Exams
A written test and a driving test are required to get your license C+E. The written test is comprised of 20 questions, and you have to answer at least 14 correctly. The questions are based on the information in Chapters 4 to 11 of the NYS Driver's Manual. To prepare for the test, study the manual and take tests. It is important that you take your time and do not hurry through the questions during the test.
The driving test consists of the demonstration of basic driving skills, slope starting (for manual transmission vehicles), backing-up and an obstacle course. The examiner will also evaluate your ability to respond quickly to roadside emergencies. The examiner will also confirm that you have insurance on your vehicle. During the driving test, you may not carry any passengers other than your sponsor or interpreter. In addition, you are not allowed to make use of any device that can record audio or video unless the examiner allows the device.
The oral and written exams are administered at DVS offices in New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk, Onondaga and Albany counties. Candidates can book their tests online or visit the nearest DVS office. When making an appointment, applicants can choose the date and time they would like to test at. Applicants must present a valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance to the DVS office. The oral and written tests are available in English, Albanian (in Albanian), French, Hebrew, Italian and Korean.
Before developing each exam, a thorough job analysis is conducted. The job analysis entails observing incumbents and conducting surveys and interviews, and also analyzing the current documents. A group of Subject Experts, or SME's, is constituted to analyze the job analysis and create the exam questions. The SME's have been extensively trained in the art of writing questions. They are knowledgeable of the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to perform the task in a satisfactory way.
The written and oral exams are designed to be as close to the real world as is possible. However, there are certain circumstances that might cause an examiner to refuse your license. You may be refused a license if during the test, you were driving in a dangerous manner or were involved in an accident. Or if you have violated traffic laws, rules or regulations. You will be required to take the test again and pay additional fees if you violated any traffic laws, rules or regulations.
Medical exam
To be able to operate a lorry within the EU one has to undergo an examination medically. A doctor will check the eyesight of the driver as well as general health. Medical certificates allow a driver to be issued C+E driving license that is valid for five years. The license is valid for renewal every year following the expiration date.
To pass the driving test you must pass two separate tests, one is theory based and the other is a practical. The theory test comprises 25 questions you have to answer in less than eight minutes. The test is based on driving around a controlled area and demonstrating your capability to drive safely. You will be observed by an examiner throughout the test.
The test can last up to one hour and includes an oral and driving portion. You have to follow the instructions of the examiner and listen attentively to them. You will have to perform a variety of maneuvers like changing lanes, overtaking, or parking. You will also need to demonstrate that you can follow the road's signs and signals. You will also need to follow a particular route, which will be given by the examiner.
Some commenters questioned the usage of the term "not-certified." The final rule uses the term "not-certified" to make clear that the CDL owner is not qualified medically. This term makes it clear that the driver's driving privileges are not being revoked because of FMCSA's adverse actions. The final rule stipulates that the State-designated licensure authority (SDLA) publish the medical certification status of a CDL Holder on their CDLIS driver record. This will help prevent false and fraudulent claims that a driver is medically qualified when, in reality, the driver isn't. To further deter fraud in the future, the SDLA must include the contact details of the ME who conducted a medical examination on the driver's file. Sverige Kort will continue to be in force until FMCSA issues a new rule to address this issue. In the meantime, motor carriers can keep the original or a copy the medical examiner's certification in their driver qualification files as evidence that the driver is medically qualified, so long as the carrier can demonstrate the date of receipt of the certificate from the ME.
